Accounting Assistant

The Role:

Our client, an architecture practice championing a variety of civic and commercial projects across the globe, is looking to hire an Accounting Assistant to help support their finance team. The ideal candidate would come from a similar industry background and would be comfortable stepping in to assist with a variety of bookkeeping and finance-related tasks including A/R and A/P, expense reporting, and system troubleshooting.

The role would involve coordinating with Project Managers and other team members from the Finance department to track and accurately process expenses for a busy pipeline of projects. This is a great fit for someone reliable who takes accountability for their work, and who would come in with some previous experience in a finance / bookkeeping role. The position is also highly team-oriented and is well-suited to someone with a social and enthusiastic approach to work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field inquiries regarding invoices and expenses, and act as a primary point of contact for the finance team
  • Handle weekly payment processing and monthly reporting / analysis for all Accounts Payable
  • Perform monthly outreach and timely reporting for all Accounts Receivable
  • Review weekly employee expenses and work closely with the Finance team to maintain an effective and continuous tracking system for project budgets
  • Work to improve and streamline existing accounting systems when necessary
  • Support the finance team with year-end audits and other aspects of financial review

Key Skills:

  • Some prior experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
  • Previous experience within A/E/C industries is highly preferable, but not required
  • Prior knowledge of Deltek Vision is highly beneficial, but not required
  • A professional and accountable approach to work
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity working collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple schedules, accounts, and budget timelines
