Archive Manager

The Role:

We are working exclusively with a prestigious and highly regarded international architecture studio who are looking for an experienced Archive Manager to join their London team.

In this position, you will be required to manage existing archive materials and implement/developing policies and processes for the group/international offices relating to new material. You will be reporting to the Head of Research and working collaboratively with the wider team whilst autonomously carrying out the everyday functions required by the studio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Head of Research to manage, maintain and develop the group’s studio archive.
  • Ensure communication relating to the archives is transmitted across the relevant teams, and the importance and value are understood.
  • Make sure all systems are up to date with the relevant information and new models are catalogued for live projects.
  • Manage all the phases in the models’ transportation from one site to another
  • Managing external storage of all archive materials ensuring safe keep
  • Support with project exhibitions ensuring all safety procedures are in place.
  • Ensure all policies are followed while updating and helping develop new ones on archiving born-digital sketches
  • Support with the cataloguing of sketchbooks and drawings
  • Support the wider team in the publication, display, and location of archive material
  • Coordinate with the senior team on future strategies for the group relating to the archives as a whole 

Key Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the architecture or design
  • Experience managing physical models/material and multimedia collections
  • Experience implementing processes and developing databases
  • Possess a solid understanding of the conservation requirements for both paper-based and three-dimensional objects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Natural attention to detail, methodical and confidence in taking the initiative
