Executive Creative Director/Lead Strategist (Freelance)
About The Role:
We have partnered with a multidisciplinary experiential design studio who are on the lookout for a visionary Executive Creative Director/Lead Strategist with a strong foundation in spatial storytelling, branded environments, and high-end experiential design to join them on a short contract basis with the potential to be extended longer term.
This role calls for someone who can zoom out to see the full narrative of a space while staying grounded in the practicalities of design intent and brand strategy.
You will be instrumental in shaping the early phases of each project – leading visioning sessions, crafting compelling narratives, and translating abstract brand values into immersive spatial concepts that resonate emotionally and visually. Working closely with the Design Director and Project Manager, you will help ensure creative alignment across internal teams and external stakeholders. From guiding client conversations and design presentations to building buy-in across multidisciplinary collaborators, your role will be key in maintaining momentum and clarity throughout the conceptual process.
The studio offers a hybrid working setup, providing flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration – ideal for creatives who value both autonomy and connection in their workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creative visioning process, developing spatial narratives and experiential concepts that align with brand values and project goals
- Collaborate closely with the Design Director and Project Manager to ensure cohesive storytelling and design direction across all phases of the project
- Drive client-facing presentations and workshops, articulating ideas clearly and confidently to build trust and alignment
- Translate conceptual thinking into compelling visual presentations and design narratives that inspire both clients and internal teams
- Facilitate creative alignment across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring consistency and clarity from concept through to execution
Key Skills/Requirements:
- Expertise in experiential strategy, placemaking, or branded environments
- Exceptional client-facing presence and persuasive storytelling skills
- Comfortable navigating from insight to concept across 3D/2D/UX disciplines
- Bonus: background as creative director, strategist, or art director
