FF&E Design Assistant

The Role:

With a tastefully restrained aesthetic and a diverse use of materiality, this lighting and furniture design studio is carving a name for itself in the industry. They have been steadily growing since their inception and are needing to continue support as their FF&E offerings expand. They are seeking a detail-oriented design assistant to dive into their process and grow with their team. This is a fabulous opportunity for a passionate designer to begin their career and make an impactful contribution to a designerly and emerging brand.

This role offers significant training and an amazing and hands-on design experience. This studio offers excellent benefits, especially for a small studio, including 401k, 100% paid premiums on health benefits, great PTO and options for profit sharing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce 3D models for both iterative design exploration as well as existing product
  • Contribute to technical design documentation for products across the brand
  • Contribute to specification documentation
  • Be involved in building physical models and mock ups with a variety of media for design review and development
  • Work closely alongside vendors and fabricators during the prototyping process to ensure the execution of design intent
  • Define and produce documentation for a variety of product info such as assembly instructions, care etc…
  • Become familiar with compliance needs and ensure standards are being met during the design and fabrication process

Key Skills:

  • A design degree in interiors, furniture, industrial, product or adjacent field
  • Strong CAD skills
  • Working knowledge of Rhino and Adobe CS (with a focus on Illustrator and InDesign)
  • Experience and an interest in creating physical models
  • Knowledge of Fusion 360, Revit, Keyshot and 3D printing is not required but would be considered an asset for this position
  • A keenness in joining a small team of designers and makers
  • A natural attention to detail
  • A high-level of design sensibility
