Lead Senior Interior Technical Designer
About The Role:
A high-end residential interior design studio is seeking an experienced Lead Senior Interior Technical Designer to oversee the technical design output across a wide portfolio of luxury projects. This role is suited to someone who thrives on precision and has a deep understanding of construction, joinery, and bespoke detailing. You will be instrumental in developing team capabilities, setting technical standards, and ensuring the delivery of consistent, exceptional work across all stages of the design process.
You will manage and mentor a team of technical and design staff, while acting as a key point of contact for contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders. This role is perfect for someone who can balance leadership, technical knowledge, and creative thinking, while maintaining high standards under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the technical design output across all studio projects
- Manage team resourcing in weekly workload meetings, allocating tasks and monitoring project capacity
- Lead internal briefings to ensure full understanding of project briefs, site context, and client expectations
- Develop and implement studio-wide drawing standards and procedures, ensuring consistency and quality control
- Provide mentorship and technical training to junior and mid-level staff
- Monitor timesheets and project financials, flagging overspends and recommending adjustments
- Review and approve technical drawing packages, control packs, and schedules to ensure accuracy and buildability
- Produce and review detailed drawings for bespoke joinery, architectural layouts, and FF&E installations
- Conduct regular quality checks on work produced internally and externally by sub-contractors
- Lead measured surveys and on-site documentation, responding to RFIs and contractor queries
- Oversee site visits, snagging, and sign-off procedures to ensure smooth project handover
- Liaise directly with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Represent the studio at new business meetings, supporting the Directors in pitch development and project planning
- Produce detailed project programmes aligned with payment, schedules and deliverables
- Contribute creative input to FF&E selection and spatial concepts where required
Key Skills/Requirements:
- Degree in Interior Design / Interior Architecture
- Minimum 8 years’ professional experience in high-end interior design or architecture
- Strong technical background, particularly in bespoke residential or hospitality projects
- Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D software: AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or SketchUp (Revit a plus)
- Proven experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff
- Strong space planning and construction knowledge, including joinery detailing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to liaise confidently with clients, suppliers, and consultants
- Experience developing project programmes, reviewing contractor drawings, and conducting on-site inspections
- Confident in managing multiple complex projects and meeting deadlines under pressure
- Meticulous attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
