Sustainable Design Assistant

The Role:

A forward-thinking, employee-owned, and award-winning architectural studio in London is looking for a self-motivated Sustainable Design Assistant to join and drive their team. In this role, you will ensure best practice sustainable design is in every project throughout all the work stages and you will be reporting to the partner, Sustainable Design Lead and Advisor and working with a team of 3 working on projects at all scales and a wide range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the use of Revit plug-ins for sustainable design analyses and technical tools across the practice
  • Evaluate Embodied and Whole Life Carbon of projects and systems using our bespoke HBERT plugin for Autodesk Revit.
  • Organise sustainable design reviews at key projects stages
  • Support the practice of implementing passive design principles into projects
  • Manage early stages of Environmental and Energy model analyses
  • Support design teams in sustainable economic models, social and cultural sustainability
  • Assist with the Post Occupancy Evaluations programme
  • Advice on BREEAM, material specification based on responsible procurement processes, embodied carbon, health outcomes, and waste reduction
  • Assist with CPD programme in line with RIBA and research when needed.

Key Skills:

  • Previous working experience with Revit and Dynamo
  • 2+ years experience working with Whole Life Carbon (WLCA / LCA) design processes, standards, tools and databases
  • Experience with BREEAM and other sustainability and well-being rating systems
  • Excellent graphic design and presentation skills
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, particularly with Adobe InDesign
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptable and committed demeanour with a hands-on approach
