Accountant (Architecture) (9 Month FTC)
About The Role:
A prominent global architectural studio, renowned for its high-profile projects, is seeking an Accountant to join their London office on a 9-month fixed term contract.
This role sits within the finance team and works closely overseeing financial activity for the London studio and supporting several overseas entities. You will work daily with the wider finance team to ensure accurate, timely reporting and smooth financial operations. It’s a broad role covering both local and international responsibilities, suited to someone with strong all-round finance experience. Key duties include managing billing cycles, preparing monthly submissions for group finance, and serving as the main link between London and global offices.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and an ability to engage positively with others, including the capacity to navigate situations with a sense of light-heartedness. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
- Support external audit and statutory reporting processes
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Prepare VAT returns and support HMRC compliance
- Support reporting for international entities, including multi-currency environments
- Analyse financial and project data to support business decision-making
- Work collaboratively with project teams and wider practice colleagues
- Contribute to improvements in financial processes, systems and controls
Key Skills / Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a professional services environment
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (UK GAAP / IFRS)
- Experience in multi-entity and/or multi-currency environments
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using ERP systems
- Detail-focused with strong analytical and organisational skills
- Able to manage deadlines and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
- Clear communicator with a collaborative working approach
