Finance Manager/Chief Accountant

The Role:

The Crowd are working with an established, mid-sized international architecture practice that are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager/Chief Accountant to join them in their London team.

As part of the senior management team, you will contribute towards the development, growth and company strategy of the practice. Aiding with decision making and providing sound financial and commercial advice to the company directors, the role will also be responsible for reviewing and streamlining the financial processes and overseeing the company’s finance function as a whole. The ideal person will have previous experience in the architecture/design/built environment and will be a confident finance professional who enjoys a hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and commercial financial advice to the directors
  • Produce monthly accounts including commentary and presenting to the board
  • Manage the company‘s year end processes
  • Produce budgets, forecasts and analysis and variance reporting etc
  • Lead in meetings in relation to finance
  • Ensure the company’s finances are accurately and timely processed
  • Manage, nurture and develop two direct reports
  • Manage relations with external stakeholders such as auditors, bank, clients etc
  • Ensure the company is compliant across all financial aspects
  • Overview of the payroll function
  • FX management
  • Manage the company’s bank accounts
  • Review processes and procedures and bring forward ideas for streamlining
  • Act as a sounding board to the senior management team for all finance and project related matters

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role in the architecture/built environment
  • CIMA/ACCA etc preferred, or extensive experience in a similar role
  • Xero proficiency is beneficial
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Confident in bringing forward ideas and developing processes
  • Feels comfortable challenging the status quo and influencing others
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior management and directors
  • Confident communicator at all levels
