Head of Accessibility & Inclusive Design

The Role:

The Crowd are working with an established and creative, multi-disciplinary design studio that are looking for a Head of Accessibility & Inclusive Design to lead their growing team. The role can be remote and is open to applicants across the UK. Please note that having one’s own lived experience is desirable but not essential.

They are looking for a passionate and strong leader to focus on strategy, build new business in the accessibility realm and ensure the personal development of the team. The team work across both access-specific projects & provides inclusive design support to their wider work across wayfinding, user experience, and human factors. The ideal candidate will have strong experience and expertise in consulting on accessibility and inclusivity on design projects, good commercial awareness, and be a communicative, uplifting, and empathetic manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement business strategy and plans
• Collaborate and work closely with leadership team to develop companywide objectives
• Identify trends and target markets, and lead in generating new business
• Responsible for leading and training a small team
• Manage resources and workloads to ensure the smooth function of all projects
• Ensure the personal wellbeing and development of team members, conducting appraisals, L&D and setting objectives
• Identify areas of development within the team
• Visit projects when required
• Provide technical and creative direction

• Excellent communication and organisation skills, with an ability to delegate successfully
