Intermediate Interior Designer

About The Role:

Our client, one of the leading and highly sought-after names in the design industry right now, esteemed for their connection-centered approach to architecture and design across cultural and community-based projects, are seeking to hire an Intermediate Interior Designer to join their highly-successful, creative team in Manhattan.

With previous experience in the cultural sector, you will work across the full design scope alongside a talented team of architects and designers to produce thought-provoking, iconic projects.  Although our client is a mid-sized, international practice, they maintain their collaborative nature and therefore the perfect person for this role will be a strong team-player, a curious thinker, an ideas sharer and thoughtful in their approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and implement new design concepts throughout each step of the design process, from initial concept through construction administration
  • Implement new design details and finishings
  • Develop diagrams, space plans, furniture arrangements, elevations, and detailed drawings throughout all phases of the design process
  • Craft color schemes, mood boards, and visual imagery for internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct research, choosing, and detailing specifications for materials and furniture
  • Conduct research to identify and establish strategic partnerships, and collaborations for projects
  • Facilitate networking and introductions among engineers, stakeholders, and consultants
  • Maintain effective communication between contractors, clients and vendors

Key Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Interior Design or related fields
  • NCIDQ certification preferred
  • 5+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Notable experience within the cultural, institutional, educational, and high-end residential design sectors
  • High proficiency in 3D rendering software including Rhino, Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Comprehensive experience in producing and overseeing interior architectural drawings and documentation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of FF&E, joinery, and detailing
  • Familiarity with interior design details, millwork, contract furniture, and interior finishes.
  • Demonstrated excellence in graphic, verbal, and written communication
