Operations Director

The Role:

A large and in-demand, design-led engineering company are currently looking for a commercially astute Operations Director to join their London office. Renowned for their exceptional projects worldwide, they are at the forefront of the industry.

This is a newly created position that has arisen due to a period of vast and exciting growth. The position will work in conjunction with the HR Business Partner and oversee a large team, with ten leaders across the specialist division of the business reporting directly into you. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in either engineering or the built environment and will have worked with multi-disciplinary sectors. This is a perfect opportunity for an individual with a proven track record in driving and achieving operational excellence across areas such as people management, HR, recruitment and strategy implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of HR matters including recruitment, promotions, and rewards
  • Develop and support the design leaders through effective line management
  • Pipeline and resource planning
  • Strategic planning for the division
  • Monitor the delivery of specialist project teams for multi-discipline bids and projects
  • Manage resource allocation and growth within the design team
  • Conduct strategic discipline reviews and implement associated actions
  • Develop and execute growth strategies to enhance product offerings and market positioning
  • Implement global strategies such as net zero carbon, decarbonisation, social values etc
  • Drive community engagement and collaboration within the specialist community

Key Skills:

  • Leadership experience in an engineering or built environment consultancy
  • Successful line management of senior professionals
  • Commercially and financially astute
  • Proficient in general HR matters
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to switch focus between macro and micro issues as and when needed
