Senior Architectural Designer

About the Role:

A globally recognized architecture practice with a strong portfolio of large-scale, complex projects is seeking a Senior Architectural Designer to join its New York studio. Known for delivering impactful work across a range of sectors and international markets, the firm offers the opportunity to contribute to ambitious projects from early concept development through technical delivery.

This role is ideal for a highly creative and technically capable architectural designer who enjoys working at the intersection of design, visualization, and project delivery. You will work closely with senior design leadership, Design Directors and Project Managers, contributing to the development of design concepts, presentations, and project strategies, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design excellence throughout all project phases. The studio is hiring across a number of project sectors, reflecting a strong pipeline of work and continued growth across the practice.

The successful candidate will bring strong conceptual design abilities, excellent graphic communication skills, and experience working on complex architectural projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and advance design concepts across a variety of project types, contributing to site planning, master planning, and architectural design initiatives
  • Produce high-quality visual presentations, diagrams, renderings, models, and design narratives to communicate ideas to clients and project teams
  • Create and develop 3D models, feasibility studies, and architectural documentation packages with technical drawings
  • Support project delivery through design coordination, technical research, zoning and code analysis and specification review
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and conducting periodic site visits
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to maintain design quality and project objectives throughout all phases
  • Mentor and support junior team members while contributing to a positive and collaborative studio culture
  • Present design concepts, project updates, and design strategies to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders

Key Skills / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • 10+ years of professional architectural experience, ideally on large-scale or complex projects
  • Understanding of project coordination, technical documentation, and design delivery processes
  • Strong ability to generate and develop design concepts, supported by excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and present design ideas to internal teams and external stakeholders, clients and consultants
  • Experience navigating planning constraints, zoning requirements, and regulatory considerations throughout the design process
  • Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; exposure to parametric design tools such as Grasshopper is beneficial
  • Solid understanding of project delivery, including design coordination, documentation development, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
  • Professional licensure, LEED accreditation, and Construction Administration experience are advantageous
