Senior Interior Designer / Design Lead (Luxury Residential & Hospitality)

About The Role:

A highly regarded, Philadelphia-based residential development and interior design studio is seeking a Senior Interior Designer / Design Lead to join its growing team. Known for delivering deeply layered, timeless interiors for ultra-high-net-worth residential clients, the studio has built a reputation for creating refined, highly personalized environments that balance architecture, interiors, landscape, and development under one cohesive vision.

With a portfolio spanning bespoke ground-up residences, large-scale renovations, and emerging hospitality projects, the studio approaches every project with a strong point of view, thoughtful materiality, and an emphasis on enduring design rather than trends. The team operates within a highly collaborative yet creatively autonomous environment, where designers are empowered to take ownership of projects and contribute meaningfully across all phases of the design process.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior-level designer with strong experience in luxury residential interiors to lead projects from concept through construction and installation. The ideal candidate is both highly creative and technically proficient, capable of independently developing sophisticated design solutions while collaborating closely with leadership, consultants, and project teams.

This position offers the opportunity to work directly alongside firm leadership on high-profile residential and hospitality projects within a creatively ambitious, design-focused studio environment. The role is remote-first with East Coast travel as needed for project milestones, site visits, and installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead luxury residential and hospitality interior projects across all phases, from concept design through construction administration and installation.
  • Develop and present interior concepts through mood boards, material palettes, presentations, renderings, and design documentation
  • Produce and oversee detailed drawing packages including floor plans, furniture layouts, elevations, and millwork detailing
  • Collaborate closely with architects, landscape architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure a cohesive and integrated design vision
  • Guide projects through schematic design, design development, documentation, procurement, and installation while maintaining design integrity throughout
  • Lead FF&E sourcing and specification efforts, including furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, and custom design elements
  • Conduct material reviews and design presentations, articulating the design narrative, material relationships, and spatial intent clearly and confidently
  • Coordinate with procurement and vendor teams to support purchasing, fabrication, lead-time management, and installation logistics
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure alignment with the overall design intent
  • Participate in site visits, walkthroughs, and field coordination
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and internal coordination across multiple active projects
  • Mentor and support junior designers through technical guidance and collaborative design development

Key Skills / Requirements:

  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience with a strong focus on high-end residential interiors required; hospitality experience is highly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently through all phases
  • Strong design sensibility with a refined understanding of proportion, materiality, layering, and spatial composition
  • Advanced knowledge of luxury residential detailing, custom millwork, FF&E, finishes, and construction methodologies
  • Experience producing and coordinating comprehensive construction documentation packages
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; strong working knowledge of SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and visualization tools preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in client-facing and consultant-facing interactions
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with experience guiding and supporting junior team members
