Senior Technical Designer (Commercial)

About The Role:

A highly respected architecture and interiors practice is seeking a Senior Technical Designer to join its Commercial Interiors team in New York. Renowned for delivering thoughtfully designed workplace, hospitality, and commercial interiors, the studio combines creative design with technical expertise to deliver sophisticated, high-performing environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical designer who enjoys translating design intent into well-resolved, buildable solutions. Working across all project phases, from schematic design through to construction administration, you will play a key role in design development, technical detailing, consultant coordination, and project delivery. You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality documentation, developing Revit models, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and design standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical design development across all project phases
  • Produce and coordinate detailed drawing packages and Revit models in line with BIM standards
  • Develop technical detailing, construction solutions, and material specifications
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery
  • Manage construction administration, including site coordination, RFIs, and field queries
  • Ensure all documentation complies with NYC building codes, ADA requirements, and QA/QC standards
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to maintaining technical excellence across the studio

Key Skills / Requirements:

  • Professional degree in Architecture with 6–10 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong experience delivering commercial interiors, workplace, hospitality, or amenity projects
  • Excellent technical detailing and construction documentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit with working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience producing comprehensive construction documentation
  • Sound knowledge of NYC building codes and construction processes
  • Strong communication and consultant coordination skills
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
