Studio Director (Architecture / Design)

About The Role:

A mid-sized, emerging multidisciplinary architecture and design practice recognized for their innovative and forward-thinking projects is seeking an experienced and design-driven Studio Director to join its expanding UAE team. Our client unites a diverse group of creative professionals within a collaborative, ambitious, and non-hierarchical environment focused on delivering internationally acclaimed work.

In this senior leadership role, you will work closely with the founding partners to oversee day-to-day studio operations, lead a diverse portfolio of high-profile international projects, and act as a key ambassador for the practice when engaging with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders. You will mentor and guide a talented team of designers, upholding the highest standards of design excellence, technical precision, and seamless delivery across all project stages, while fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing studio environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the founders to manage and oversee projects from concept through to construction
• Provide expert technical input, conduct design reviews, and offer guidance on construction detailing
• Develop creative solutions and strategic approaches to both design and delivery challenges
• Present design concepts and lead high-level client and stakeholder meetings on behalf of the founders
• Mentor and support designers, fostering professional growth and maintaining studio quality
• Serve as the primary link between senior management and the wider team, ensuring consistent communication and workflow
• Ensure drawings, models, and presentations adhere to studio standards and international best practice
• Contribute to business development, networking, and external representation as required
• Support the strategic growth and development of the studio

Key Skills / Requirements:

• Professional degree in architecture / design
• 15+ years of experience across all project phases, with strong international exposure
• Strong design leadership with a deep understanding of concept, technical development, and delivery
• Proficiency in Rhino (mandatory), Revit (preferred), AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite
• Ability to confidently lead client presentations and represent the practice externally
• High attention to detail and commitment to design integrity
• Fluent English communication skills (spoken and written) required
• Middle East experience is a plus but not essential
