Technical Designer (D&B / Workplace)
About The Role:
We have partnered with a mid-sized design practice based in Surrey, that specialise in design-led workplace design and build projects, they are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join their growing team.
Working from their naturally lit office set in a serene part of Surrey, you will play a pivotal role within a fast-paced environment, contributing to design-led workplace projects. The ideal candidate will be essential in ensuring the designs are not only visually pleasing but also functional and feasible. Additionally, you will take a key role in client interactions, coordination with external consultants and ensuring the clients’ visions are realised to the highest standards. Ideally, you will have prior experience working within the design and build industry, specifically on workplace projects, with strong technical skills and a good understanding of buildability and on-site experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce comprehensive technical drawings, construction packages, and specifications, ensuring they meet all necessary regulations and standards
- Work closely with designers, contractors, and wider project teams to support smooth delivery from early design stages through to on-site completion
- Collaborate with designers on design concepts and technical information to clients, clearly communicating the intent and resolving any queries or required changes
- Review, update, and refine technical documentation to guarantee accuracy and consistency with project objectives and client requirements
- Troubleshoot technical issues during construction, offering practical solutions that uphold the design vision
- Collaborate with both the studio team and site personnel to ensure the creative direction is realised while balancing practical and technical considerations
Key Skills/Requirements:
- A degree in architecture or interior design
- Previous experience in architectural or technical design, ideally within the interiors, architecture, or design and build sectors
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is essential
- Confident communication and presentation abilities, with the skill to engage with the team
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on delivering high-quality work
- Capable of handling several projects at once while maintaining deadlines
